The Host sets the tone for every guest’s experience at Zen Modern Asian Bistro. The starting rate is $17.75/hr plus tips.
At Zen, our hosts are warm, welcoming, and organized professionals who create a lasting first impression. They greet guests with genuine hospitality, manage reservations and seating flow, and expertly handle to-go orders—from taking them with care to packing them with precision.
As the first and last point of contact, hosts play a key role in guest satisfaction by communicating clearly, accommodating special requests, and maintaining a composed presence during busy shifts. Strong awareness, attention to detail, and teamwork ensure every guest—dine-in or to-go—feels seen, valued, and well cared for.
Responsibilities
- Greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a smile, eye contact, and genuine hospitality.
- Answer all incoming calls to the restaurant within 3 rings using proper phone answering procedures.
- Have extensive knowledge of menu and the restaurant operations.
- Be completely competent with POS system and enter all to-go orders accurately and promptly.
- Deliver bill to guests, collect payments, and be responsible for turning payments over to the restaurant.
- Manage the flow of guests into the dining and bar areas, provide accurate wait times to incoming guests, rotate server sections to optimize service.
- Tend to special guest needs and requests with hospitality and a sense of urgency.
- Observant to guests' needs throughout dining experience and communicate needs proactively to ensure they receive high quality service.
- Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
- Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Assist and respond urgently and appropriately to guests’ and coworkers’ needs.
- Exhibit a professional appearance and mannerisms.
- Ensure guests are enjoying their experience and take action to correct any problems.
- Complete assigned sidework and tasks requested by manager.
- Pack all takeout orders quickly and accurately
- Hand orders and communicate with third party representatives
