Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, including processing payments via cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
- Handle cash drawer operations with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing at the end of each shift
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance customer experience and increase sales opportunities
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with merchandising efforts to maintain an attractive store environment
- Maintain professional phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or via online inquiries
- Support product demos and educate customers on store products to boost engagement and sales performance
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering preferred; grocery store experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with diverse customers; bilingual abilities are highly valued
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash register operations, and basic retail math for accurate transactions
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership skills are advantageous for supporting team efforts
- Ability to handle cash drawer handling responsibly and perform basic math calculations quickly and accurately
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and inventory stocking procedures
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills to ensure positive interactions at all times
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
