Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Safely administer prescribed medications following all protocols and medical documentation standards
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and overall health status during medication rounds
- Assist with activities of daily living such as tube feeding, catheter care, and other personal hygiene tasks
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ conditions, including symptoms related to Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia
- Support nursing staff by providing caregiving assistance in various settings including assisted living, home care, or acute care environments
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide or Certified Medication Aide credential recognized by state licensing boards
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration procedures
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including HIPAA compliance and medical documentation standards
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s disease or dementia
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care
