Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated CNC Lathe Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes to produce high-precision metal components. Your expertise will ensure that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting strict quality standards.
Duties
- Set up CNC lathe machines, including tooling and fixture installation, to prepare for production runs
- Write and modify CNC G-code programs using Fanuc controls or similar systems to produce precise parts
- Interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings accurately to ensure correct machining processes
- Operate CNC lathes and manual machining tools to produce components according to specifications
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for quality control
- Perform routine machine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment during all machining activities
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming, including G-code and M-code commands for lathe operations
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation
- Experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming tools
- Knowledge of machining tools, tooling setup, and manual machining techniques
- Familiarity with CNC machining centers like Fanuc controls or equivalent systems
- Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes such as milling, grinding, and boring
- Ability to interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications for precision manufacturing
- Skilled in measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and measurement instruments for quality assurance
- Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machining tolerances and dimensions
- Experience with CNC quality inspection procedures and measurement in quality control environments
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues effectively
- Knowledge of power tools, hand tools, and tooling used in machine setup and maintenance
