SUMMARY/OVERVIEW:
The Flux Production Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient production of flux products through blending, pelletizing, packaging, and material handling operations. This position operates and monitors production equipment, maintains quality standards, performs product changeovers, and conducts cleaning and sanitation activities to ensure safe and compliant manufacturing processes.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Production Operations
- Manufacture flux products according to production schedules, run sheets, and operating procedures.
- Verify and record raw material lot numbers before production.
- Load and blend raw materials using ribbon blending equipment.
- Operate pelletizing, crushing, conveying, and screening equipment to produce finished products.
- Monitor product quality, including pellet hardness, shape, and dust generation.
- Adjust equipment settings to maintain product specifications and production efficiency.
- Troubleshoot minor operating issues and report equipment concerns to supervision.
- Packaging and Material Handling
- Operate bagging equipment and verify package weights meet specifications.
- Package products in bags, drums, and jumbo sacks as required.
- Label finished products and pallets with proper lot identification.
- Palletize and prepare finished goods for storage or shipment.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as authorized.
- Move raw materials and finished products throughout the facility.
- Quality Control
- Collect production, retain, and composite samples according to established procedures.
- Submit required samples to the laboratory for analysis and certification.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Ensure product traceability through proper lot number control.
- Equipment Cleaning and Changeover
- Perform product changeovers to prevent cross-contamination.
- Empty processing equipment and hoppers between production runs.
- Conduct wash-down and cleaning procedures for production equipment and work areas.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and readiness for production.
- Assist with routine preventive maintenance activities.
- Safety and Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements.
- Review and comply with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.
- Identify and avoid mechanical hazards, pinch points, and tripping hazards.
- Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other production equipment when trained and authorized.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Experience:
- Previous manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial production experience preferred.
- Ability to operate industrial production equipment safely and efficiently.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Ability to read and follow written procedures and production instructions.
- Basic math, measurement, and recordkeeping skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This position is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is occasional mandatory overtime, including weekend work on short notice.
TRAVEL: This position does not require travel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Flux Production Operator works in an industrial manufacturing environment producing flux and related products. The position requires operation of blending, pelletizing, packaging, and material-handling equipment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Basic office equipment (computer, telephone, copier/scanner, printer, label printer, handheld scanner); production equipment including ribbon blender, pelletizer, crusher, conveyors, screening equipment, bagging and packaging systems, palletizer, weighing scales, forklifts, pallet jacks, drum handling equipment, air compressors, shrink wrapper, hoppers, hand tools, and overhead cranes (when trained and authorized). Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, gloves, and respiratory protection as required.
