Bel Air, Maryland; Remote for Right Individual
The Senior Surety Consultant partners with, and supports the work of, the company’s Vice President of Surety, including representing the company’s unique capabilities to current and prospective clients. Whether you possess a civil or structural engineering and engineering management background, or a claims examination background, this position owns the client relationship for assigned business, solves all manner of problems and works diligently to achieve client satisfaction. Also helping to oversee the company’s technical investigations work and successful claim resolutions, this individual will partner with management to ensure consulting on all surety claims, including performance, payment and commercial bonds, is handled expeditiously and in accordance with the law, company policy and its industry-leading standards of efficiency and integrity. With a deep knowledge of the various bond types and the surety, construction and engineering industries, the right person to soar in this role is an experienced, polished and driven individual who thoroughly understands the business of bonds, the discipline of business development and the principles and practices of construction claims administration.
Drawing upon a combination of professional skills, managerial talents, personal qualities and relationship-building experience, the right candidate will help usher in the company’s next phase of growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the company’s Vice President – Surety in all aspects of client outreach, technical/field personnel oversight and division management
- Serve as the face of the organization to clients and the greater construction claims community
- Participate in trade shows, webinars and other industry events
- Analyze industry trends and data; anticipate problems and client needs
- Compose and compile reports, presentations, industry articles and white papers
- Support the current head of surety claims when needed on various consulting scopes, subrogations, recoveries, and on internal initiatives
- Perform construction site visits to assess status and progress and to foster positive relations with all parties
- Assist, when needed, in the preparation and proofreading of reports, RFPs, correspondence, filings, etc.
- Assist in the recruitment of technical personnel
- Assist in the development of new markets, products and services
- Willingness to learn and grow in all aspects of sales, surety and construction claims, management, etc.
- As contributions and competencies become evidenced, be willing to tackle new challenges and take on even more company and division responsibilities
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required, PE – civil or structural
- 7-10 years’ (or more!) progressively responsible experience within the industry – additional construction claims, construction field experience or claim consulting experience is beneficial
- Demonstrated supervisory/managerial proficiency
- Strong analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills
- Proven communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Track record of creating relationships of influence
- Consummate discretion, organization, professionalism
