Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. This position requires a FEMALE staff working closely with an individual with behavioral challenges in a home setting and community environments. It also involves working on a 1:1 ratio, meaning one staff to 1 person served. The DSP is responsible for fostering independence while ensuring the safety and well-being of those they support.
Duties
- Assist the person served on a 1:1 ratio with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Implement care plans tailored to the individual’s needs, including medication administration and adherence to prescribed routines.
- Engage the person served in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting individual in light housekeeping duties as needed.
- Observe and document the person served behavior, progress, and any changes in condition while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of the person receiving support.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification preferred for emergency preparedness.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention certification.
- Experience in human delivery system.
- Strong person served observation skills to identify changes in behavior or health status.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
- Understanding of social work principles related to supporting individuals with disabilities.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
