Physical Therapy Aide
- Assisting physical therapists and patients during treatment sessions
- Setting up and cleaning treatment areas and equipment
- Preparing hot/cold packs and other treatment supplies as directed
- Helping patients move safely between equipment, tables, and waiting areas
- Maintaining and organizing therapy equipment
- Sanitizing equipment and treatment spaces
- Assisting with patient check-in, scheduling, and basic administrative tasks
- Stocking supplies and maintaining a clean, safe clinic environment
- Following the physical therapist’s instructions and clinic safety procedures
- Providing friendly customer service and communicating appropriately with patients
Physical Therapy Assistant
Typical PTA job duties
- Carry out treatment plans designed by the physical therapist
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and stretches
- Assist with strength, balance, mobility, and flexibility training
- Use therapeutic equipment and modalities as directed
- Monitor patients during treatments and report changes to the physical therapist
- Teach patients how to perform exercises safely
- Help patients with walking, transfers, and other functional activities
- Document patient treatments and progress
- Maintain treatment equipment and a safe therapy environment
- Communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Typical requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Successful completion of the required clinical education
- Passing the NPTE-PTA examination
- State licensure or certification, depending on the state
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Pay: $17.00 - $30.00 per hour
