A new full-service restaurant opening in Pasadena, Texas, is seeking an experienced, disciplined, and highly organized Kitchen Manager to lead kitchen operations and help build the restaurant’s opening team.
The selected candidate must be willing and able to complete 120–180 days of paid training in Beaumont, Texas before transitioning to the permanent Pasadena location. Temporary housing or a training stipend may be available for qualifying candidates during the Beaumont training period.
Position Overview
The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for food quality, recipe execution, sanitation, kitchen staffing, inventory, food costs, and the overall performance of the back-of-house team.
This is a hands-on leadership position for a manager who can maintain high standards while working with urgency, developing employees, controlling costs, and delivering consistent food quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all daily kitchen and back-of-house operations.
- Participate in pre-opening planning, kitchen setup, hiring, training, and opening activities.
- Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and supervise kitchen employees.
- Establish a culture of accountability, urgency, teamwork, cleanliness, and consistency.
- Ensure consistent food quality, recipe execution, presentation, portioning, and ticket times.
- Maintain compliance with food-safety procedures, sanitation standards, and health-code requirements.
- Manage food ordering, receiving, storage, inventory, waste, and product rotation.
- Monitor food costs and implement procedures to reduce waste and protect restaurant profitability.
- Maintain appropriate kitchen staffing levels while controlling labor expenses.
- Conduct line checks, temperature checks, inventory counts, and kitchen inspections.
- Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready for service.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and promptly report repair or replacement needs.
- Train employees on proper cooking methods, recipes, food handling, portion control, and sanitation procedures.
- Develop shift leaders and other back-of-house employees for advancement.
- Work closely with the General Manager to achieve guest-service, sales, and profitability goals.
- Provide leadership on the cooking line and during peak business periods when necessary.
- Address performance issues promptly and maintain clear accountability within the kitchen team.
- Protect restaurant assets and maintain accurate inventory and ordering records.
Qualifications
- At least three years of kitchen management or senior culinary leadership experience in a full-service restaurant.
- Experience managing a high-volume kitchen is strongly preferred.
- Experience opening a new restaurant is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, inventory, ordering, recipe compliance, and food-cost controls.
- Demonstrated ability to train, develop, and hold kitchen employees accountable.
- Experience managing labor, scheduling, waste, and kitchen productivity.
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other hours required by restaurant operations.
- Must be willing and able to complete 120–180 days of paid training in Beaumont, Texas.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required food-safety certifications.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and safely perform the physical duties associated with kitchen operations.
Compensation and Benefits
- $65,000 or more annually, depending on experience.
- Performance-based bonus opportunity.

- Temporary housing or a training stipend may be available during the 120–180-day Beaumont training period for qualifying candidates.
