POSITION TITLE: ENROLLMENT/ATTENDANCE LIAISON REPORTS TO: STUDENT SERVICES DIRECTOR
OVER-TIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 116E
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs intermediate professional work designed to ensure compliance with student enrollment, state
compulsory attendance legislation, and accurate reporting of student enrollment and attendance data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
? Receive and process attendance referrals within the requirements set forth in the PPS
Attendance Handbook;
? Access the student information system to monitor attendance and other information related to
attendance reporting
? Assist school staff with attendance data corrections and reporting
? Maintain a working knowledge of division resources for appropriate referrals based on identified
family needs; maintain a working knowledge of division resources for multilingual
? Participate in CHINS and SST processes when appropriate; leveraging language skills for clear
communication
? Prepare and maintain accurate and appropriate documentation for reporting to schools, service
agencies, and the courts;
? Meet with school-based attendance staff on a weekly basis to monitor and support compliance
with compulsory attendance legislation; to include a review of English Language Learner
attendance data
? Meet with students and parents to support and inform them relative to attendance
requirements, expectations, and consequences; leveraging multilingual skills and or resources, as
appropriate
? Make home visits when appropriate in conjunction with an interpreter, per language needs and
direction from the supervising offices
? Maintain appropriate communication with building administrators regarding truant students,
court-related outcomes of non-compliance, and support required for compliance;
? Run monthly reports by school to assist with the identification of truant students;
? Maintain contact with appropriate Juvenile Court personnel to ensure inclusion of required
documentation of attendance in packages submitted to the court;
? Ensure execution of court packages within required timelines;
? Work closely with building-level staff to ensure compliance with reporting requirements of
agencies outside of the school division that impact the provision of effective services to meet
the needs of multilingual families, dually-identified students, and/or the needs of identified SLIFE
students.
? Respond to subpoenas and present required evidence to document student attendance and
related issues of concern to the court
? Perform other tasks as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Thorough knowledge of the court operations and intake procedures; thorough knowledge of the
techniques and means of interviewing; through knowledge of the laws pertaining to compulsory school
attendance; ability to conduct interviews and investigations; analyze attitudes and behaviors problems
objectively that require a referral to prevention staff, or CHINS; ability to intervene with students and
families on attendance problems and communicate ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing;
ability to maintain proper and accurate documentation of interactions with students and staff; ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with division personnel, students, their families
and other professionals; ability to navigate the PowerSchool system to gather data appropriate to
compliance with attendance mandates; ability to navigate sociocultural needs through work-related
tasks
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of
force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing,
standing, walking, lifting, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for
expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive
information at normal spoken work levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or
computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general
surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, and
hazards. A valid Virginia Drivers License is required for performance of investigations and monitoring
outside of the office setting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An Associates Degree or equivalent, experience working in an educational setting, communicating with
parents and building level staff, and experience with general record keeping. Must have advanced
Spanish proficiency skills as designed through ACTFL, the CEFR scale, or a comparable proficiency
measurement.
