The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the overall inventory integrity and maintenance of store inventory, following Ace Hardware's inventory best practices. This role is central to store performance across key metrics including:
- Inventory Record Accuracy (IRA) — change in quantity on hand, credit POs, direct ship
- In-Stock Position — maximum stock levels, minimum order points, store use
- Assortment & Product Mix
- Unproductive Inventory — overstock, obsolete, discontinued, and markdowns
- Shrink — loss, damage, and prevention
What you'll do
- Maintain and ensure data accuracy in the inventory system to support adequate stock levels
- Train store staff on inventory best practices and build a culture focused on inventory health
- Collaborate with associates to identify and correct errors, addressing root causes
- Research and resolve negative reports, "shoot the outs" variances, and permanent/temporary outs via Item Change Management
- Manage Mango Count Sheets and exception reports
- Lead unproductive inventory management including obsolete and overstock items
- Monitor shrinkage and recommend strategies to reduce theft and breakage
- Maintain accuracy of all location codes and print bin tags/labels as needed
- Attend Daily Huddles and contribute to store operations
What we're looking for
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred
- Experience in a retail environment — inventory, sales, or back office
- General understanding of inventory principles and retail programs
- Knowledge of the merchandise life cycle: receipt, quantity on hand, and point of sale
- Strong quantitative and computer skills, including basic MS Office proficiency
- Ability to use analytics and research to make sound, data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to inspire and motivate others to follow best practices
- Passion for detail and getting things done the right way
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
