Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, and QuickBooks to ensure timely payments and collections
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial records in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards
- Prepare journal entries and conduct account analysis to support month-end closing activities
- Support internal controls by adhering to SOX compliance requirements and assisting with audit preparations
- Utilize Excel data analysis skills for budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting purposes
- Handle confidential information with integrity while providing excellent customer service to internal stakeholders
- Assist in governmental accounting tasks including grant management and non-profit accounting procedures
- Maintain detailed documentation of all transactions and ensure proper account reconciliation across multiple accounting systems such as PeopleSoft or SAP
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries
- Proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with Workday or PeopleSoft is highly desirable
- Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX compliance standards, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite—especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management
- Ability to handle high volumes of data entry accurately while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent numeracy skills coupled with analytical thinking for account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and supporting audit processes
- Prior experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments is advantageous
