The ADG CCS Engineering team is seeking to hire a Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design for custom test and measurement systems. The engineer will contribute to defined project tasks, learn NI products and CCS solution approaches, and work under guidance from senior engineers and project leads. This role supports custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI products through tailored mechanical design contributions for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions.
This is a multi-functional role supporting diverse engineering needs, including gathering requirements, contributing to specification documents, collaborating with alliance partners and internal personnel, and assisting with the design and deployment of solutions worldwide. The role may include interaction with NI customers, NI Alliance Partners, NI Sales Teams, NI Engineering Teams, and project stakeholders.
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Supporting the development of requirements documents, specifications, and statements of work
- Assisting with the design, prototyping, testing, and deployment of mechanical components within turnkey automated test and measurement solutions
- Contributing to project plans, milestones, and design reviews under guidance from senior engineers or project leads
- Designing/modeling /prototyping mechanical system components for test and measurement solutions
- Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
- Work on problems of moderate scope with guidance from senior engineers or project leads
- Apply standard mechanical design practices and procedures
- Identify issues, escalate risks with proposed options, and seek input from senior engineers when evaluating tradeoffs
- Develop skills in requirements documentation, supplier interaction, and design reviews
- Work effectively in a group development environment
- Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
- BS Degree: in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience in a Mechanical Design role
- Working knowledge of fundamental mechanical design principles and processes
- Experience with 2D & 3D design tools, e.g. Creo, SolidWorks
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION THAT SETS YOU APART:
- Familiar with fixture and tool design
- Familiar with thermal analysis and stress analysis
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
- Knowledge of FMEA and RCCA methodologies
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques (machining, stamping, extrusion, casting, sheet metal layout, etc.)
Basic knowledge of electrical design principles i.e., grounding, shielding, cable design, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) principles
