Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of passenger vehicles such as vans, shuttle buses, and personal cars to transport patients and clients to medical appointments, hospitals, or other destinations.
- Follow all local, state, and federal transportation regulations to ensure compliance during every trip.
- Use GPS navigation systems effectively to plan optimal routes, ensuring punctual arrivals and departures.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing compassionate support for those with mobility challenges or special needs.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to guarantee safety and reliability before each shift.
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding pick-up times, routes, and any delays while maintaining professional client interactions.
- Handle heavy lifting of medical equipment or luggage when necessary while practicing proper manual handling techniques.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle condition reports for accountability and compliance purposes.
Qualifications
- Experience operating passenger vans or similar passenger vehicles in adherence to traffic laws and safety standards.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and local driving routes for efficient route planning.
- Knowledge of state transportation regulations applicable to commercial or passenger vehicle operation.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling medical equipment or luggage.
