Prep & Production Cook – High-Volume Scratch Kitchen
About Liminal We operate a 5-star rated, high-volume scratch kitchen where success relies entirely on being proactive. We take food seriously, and we take care of the people who power what we do. We believe this is one of the best prep positions in the business, offering a rare balance of top-tier compensation, guaranteed hours, and a schedule that respects your time.
We are looking for an organized, reliable Prep & Production Cook to help us stay ahead of our daily pars, production, and organization. This role focuses primarily on prep, with occasional support on our food line.
What the Day-to-Day Looks Like
- High-Volume Production: Washing, cutting, portioning, cooking, and labeling. You will manage multiple prep projects simultaneously.
- Consistency & Precision: Following exact recipes and systems to maintain our 5-star standards.
- Physical & Focused Work: This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced environment. The right person finds a rhythm in steady, repetitive production and takes satisfaction in a job done right.
- Forward Thinking: Prepping not just for tomorrow’s service, but setting up tomorrow's team for success.
The Right Fit for Our Kitchen
Because we operate with high standards and zero micro-management, we look for a specific type of professional:
- You thrive on autonomy. We don't micro-manage. We love working with enthusiastic people who see what needs to be done, check the prep list, and execute without needing constant reminders or supervision.
- You value reliability. You understand that if prep is late, sloppy, or corners are cut, it creates a domino effect that hurts the whole team. You show up prepared, on time, and ready to work.
- You take pride in your craft. You care about doing things correctly, even when nobody is watching, and you're always looking to improve your kitchen skills.
Note: If you prefer a slower pace, struggle with punctuality, or get bored easily by repetitive tasks, this fast-moving environment will likely not be a comfortable fit for you.
Qualifications
- Previous professional kitchen experience. A culinary degree isn't required, but solid knife skills, kitchen organization, and a strong foundation in food safety are essential.
- The ability to move quickly and multitask efficiently without becoming frantic.
- Proven Reliability: We are looking for professionals looking to build a long-term home. Ideally, your resume demonstrates a track record of at least 1+ years of continuous employment at a previous kitchen role.
Compensation, Schedule & Perks
- Total Earnings: $1,900 – $2,700 per pay period (dependent on hours worked).
- Hourly Breakdown: $15.16/hr base pay + shared tip pool. Our tip pool has averaged approximately $7–$9/hr throughout 2026.
- The Schedule: Guaranteed Full-Time work. Reliable hours with a passionate team that has your back.
- Optional Overtime: For those looking to maximize their paycheck, we are often able to approve overtime hours each week for our prep team.
- Perks: Free shift meal and beverage, clear expectations, and a supportive team that genuinely cares about the quality of its work.
