Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to operate small motorized equipment, including UTVs and skid steers.
Able to perform medium to heavy physical labor in remote areas in all weather conditions with a positive attitude. Trail building or landscaping/hardscape installation experience is a plus.
This position will include extensive tree work, from taking trees down to using a chipper. Although not required, tree work experience is a plus. Game of Logging 1,2, and 3 will be provided along with CPR/AED training to those candidates who may need it.
Good peer-to-peer communication skills and willingness to engage with the public
Responsibilities
The Central Region has 18 State Parks and 6 Historic Sites which include glacially carved lakes, lush forested valleys, a military fort, waterfalls, segments of the Erie Canal, as well as 19th century estates. Trail Staff works under direction from Regional Trails Coordinator to mitigate the degradation of trails by:
Performing trail maintenance i.e. improving drainage, tread leveling, removing hazard trees, general upkeep.
Constructing new trails, stone structures, small bridges, boardwalks, staircases, and signage.
Operating and maintaining shared state vehicles, hand tools, power tools, some small equipment.
Other duties as assigned.

This position is Full Time, Seasonal, Flexible Start and End Date.
Potential for Long-Term Pending Evaluation.
Work hours: Mon-Thurs 6:00am-4:30pm.
Federal holidays off.
