Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and check them in efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Schedule appointments and manage clinic calendars with precision using medical scheduling software
- Collect and process payments, insurance claims, and co-pays while ensuring accurate documentation of all transactions in medical billing systems
- Review and update patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist with medical documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and proper coding procedures to support accurate billing and care plans
- Handle phone communication professionally, providing excellent customer service and appointment follow-up while maintaining phone etiquette
- Maintain organized medical records, files, and electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth
- Support clinical staff by managing medical office administrative support tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and office management duties
- Ensure adherence to health insurance knowledge requirements including Medicare guidelines and health information management standards
Experience
- Previous clinic experience or medical office experience is highly preferred; dental clinic experience is a plus
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth for documentation and record management
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare policies and healthcare compliance standards like HIPAA
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication purposes
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle phone communication professionally and maintain a friendly demeanor
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Demonstrated clerical skills such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and office organization in a fast-paced environment
