If you are organized, proactive, great with patients, and know how to keep a lot of moving pieces on track, this may be a great fit.
We are a busy medical practice looking for a Surgical Care Coordinator to manage the details involved in getting patients successfully scheduled and prepared for surgery. This is a role for someone who likes to take ownership, stay ahead of what needs to happen next, and make the process easier for both patients and the care team.
Great benefits. Competitive compensation. A team you'll want to be part of.
We believe great people deserve to be well supported. We offer a competitive compensation package and an excellent benefits program designed to support our employees both at work and outside of it.
A little about the role
You will guide patients through the scheduling process while coordinating everything happening behind the scenes. On any given day, that may mean communicating with a patient about next steps, coordinating dates and requirements, working with clinical team members or external healthcare partners, updating the medical record, or catching an outstanding item before it creates a problem.
There are a lot of details involved, so organization and follow-through matter.
You'll spend your time...
- Coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures
- Guiding patients through scheduling, required appointments, preparation, and next steps
- Communicating regularly with patients and keeping them informed throughout the process
- Coordinating with providers, clinical team members, and external healthcare partners
- Tracking upcoming procedures and ensuring required information and documentation are complete
- Identifying scheduling conflicts or outstanding items and working proactively to resolve them
- Managing changes, cancellations, and rescheduling
- Maintaining accurate and timely information in the electronic medical record and scheduling systems
- Responding to patient questions with professionalism, patience, and a strong service mindset
- Keeping your workload organized while managing multiple patients and priorities at the same time
You'll probably be a great fit if...
You're someone who doesn't need to be reminded to follow up. You notice when something is missing, ask questions when something doesn't look right, and like the satisfaction of getting all the pieces into place.
You're also comfortable talking with patients. Surgery can feel overwhelming, and the person coordinating the process has an important role in making sure patients know what is happening and what they need to do next.
We'd especially like to meet candidates who have:
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Surgical or procedural scheduling experience strongly preferred
- Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) or healthcare scheduling system
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities without losing track of follow-up
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills
- A collaborative approach and willingness to help where needed
One thing to know about this position
This isn't simply about finding an open spot on a calendar.
A strong Surgical Care Coordinator understands the entire process, keeps track of what still needs to happen, communicates proactively, and takes ownership of getting each patient from "we're moving forward with surgery" to "everything is ready."
If that sounds like the way you like to work, we'd like to hear from you.
