JOB SUMMARY:
Providers at Robeson Health Care Corporation deliver the full range of ambulatory primary and at times urgent care services, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness in all age groups to include HIV care, preventative and well childcare, minor surgical procedures, and occasional medical emergencies. The providers are responsible for seeing their scheduled patients as well as walk-ins and add-ons, providing coverage during the operating hours of the Center, providing telephone consultation as needed, performing administrative tasks associated with the provision of medical care, participating in quality improvement activities. The providers are expected to work hours assigned by RHCC. The providers agrees to provide night call and weekend coverage on a rotational basis. Medical providers are expected to manage all patients and conditions within the scope of their training and approved privileges. The providers are responsible for providing quality health care in accordance with RHCC’s policy and procedures and guidelines set forth by the NC Medical Board and other regulatory entities. The provider will forward any and all funds received from patients, Medicaid, Medicare, and all other sources for services while in the employment of the RHCC. Malpractice insurance will be provided by the Federal Tort Claims Act.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist RHCC in maintaining a daily productivity goal as designated by the President/CEO.
2. Ensure quality patient care per Joint Commission, Bureau of Primary Health Care, and RHCC standards.
3. Perform other necessary duties as required by the Robeson Health Care Corporation to meet the goal of providing primary health care services.
4. Obtaining complete medical history from patient, family, previous medical record, etc.
5. Performs complete physical examinations on patients.
6. Orders routine and diagnostic lab and X-ray studies according to established criteria (standing orders).
7. Diagnose acute and chronic illness on the basis of clinical findings, laboratory and x-ray reports and the results of other diagnostic procedures.
8. Formulates, initiates and monitors patient management plans for each patient assigned to the Family Nurse Practitioner, based on standing orders and/or consultation with the supervising physician.
9. Adjust medications according to therapeutic goals and explains treatment to patients, families and other clinic personnel.
10. Consults with physicians and other members of the health care team as necessary.
11. Refer patients requiring hospitalization or assessment and management of conditions to supervising physicians or appropriate specialist. Follows patients closely with physician.
12. Renders emergency care and treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, starting I-V fluids, medications, and sutures lacerations.
13. Responsible for providing treatment to clients from RHCC’s residential treatment facilities as needed.
14. Teach and counsel patients and families including education on the importance of health care measures.
15. Maintains all patient records to comply with required standards, reviews records regularly and obtains physician counter signatures of all notes where medical care rendered by the Physician Assistant.
16. Participates in the Health Promotion/Disease Prevention activities required by the US Public Health Service as needed.
17. The Family Nurse Practitioner is to rotate throughout Robeson Health Care Corporation as requested by RHCC management.
18. Responsible for the completion of all medical charts within 96 hours of visit.
19. Responsible for attending the monthly provider meetings.
20. Responsible for completing peer review as assigned on a quarterly basis and submitting results to the Chief Medical Officer.
21. Maintain the confidentiality of Robeson Health Care Corporation and the patients/clients that the corporation serves.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduation from an acceptable Family Nurse Practitioner program recognized by the Board of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences with joint approval from the National League of Nursing and American Nurse's Association and the Board of Nursing.
2. The ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and other providers of the Corporation.
3. Sufficient experience to carry out the duties of this position.
4. Family Nurse Practitioner must be credentialed and approved with all payor sources, to include private insurances, Medicare, and Medicaid at all times.
5. Must have a valid North Carolina driver's license.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A North Carolina license to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner and/or Pysician Assistant is required and must be kept current. Controlled Substance Registration from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA Certificate) is required and must be kept current. NC Controlled Substance Reporting System registration is required. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required and should be renewed every 2 years.
Bonus:
The FNP and/or Physician Assistant is eligible for a one-time sign on bonus in the amount of $5,000. This will be paid in a lump sum. The FNP and/or PA must remain employed with RHCC on a full-time basis for at least one (1) year or reimburse RHCC for the full $5,000 amount.
