Western Wisconsin Health is seeking a full-time Outpatient Dialysis Registered Nurse (0.75 FTE). The Outpatient Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing safe, high-quality nursing care to patients receiving hemodialysis treatment in an outpatient setting. Under the direction of the Manager of Ambulatory Services, the RN performs patient assessments, administers dialysis treatments and medications, monitors patient response, and intervenes appropriately during complications or emergencies. The RN collaborates with nephrologists and the interdisciplinary care team to support optimal patient outcomes, promote patient education and self-management, and ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, infection prevention practices, and quality improvement initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment by reviewing vital signs, weight, laboratory results, fluid status, vascular access condition, and overall tolerance to therapy
- Monitor, assess, and maintain vascular access sites including fistulas, grafts, and central venous catheters; perform safe cannulation and catheter care according to policy
- Administer prescribed medications and dialysis treatments while monitoring patient response, identifying complications, and intervening appropriately during emergencies or adverse reactions
- Escalate significant changes in patient condition, treatment complications, or emergencies to the nephrologist, advanced practice provider, or emergency services as needed
- Educate patients and families regarding renal disease, dialysis treatment, vascular access care, medications, diet, fluid restrictions, and self-management strategies Document patient assessments, interventions, medication administration, machine settings, patient response, and adverse events accurately and timely in the electronic medical record

Collaborate with nephrologists, advanced practice providers, dietitians, social workers, dialysis technicians, and nursing staff to coordinate and support comprehensive patient care
- Maintain infection prevention, OSHA, bloodborne pathogen, safety, and equipment disinfection standards to ensure a safe clinical environment
- Support compliance with CMS, state, clinic, and organizational standards through participation in quality improvement activities, audits, and policy adherence
- Inspect and maintain dialysis machines, emergency equipment, medications, and treatment supplies while supporting and overseeing dialysis technicians providing direct patient care

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing – Associates Degree in Nursing, diploma from hospital based school, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Wisconsin RN license

3+ years of outpatient dialysis related work experience

Federal-, State- and GHR-required credentials current and on file
-
CPR certification for adults and pediatrics

Work Schedule:

.75 - 60 hours per biweekly pay period
