Mental Health Counselor
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to provide comprehensive mental health services within our clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and a strong understanding of behavioral health principles. This role involves working with diverse populations, including adolescents, adults, and individuals with developmental disabilities or chronic conditions. The counselor will deliver evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and other modalities to support patients' mental well-being. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives through individual, group, and family counseling in both outpatient settings. Weekly supervision and monthly clinical team meetings to enhance clinical skills. Part-time that will potentially lead to Full-Time.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions tailored to patient needs across various age groups including children and seniors.
- Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Utilize telehealth platforms to deliver remote counseling services when appropriate.
- Engage in clinical research or data collection efforts to improve treatment outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health and mental health diagnoses.
- Support patients with special needs such as autism spectrum disorder, PTSD care, addiction recovery, or gender issues counseling.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices in mental health counseling.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure or certification as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent credential.
- Proven experience in psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, behavior management, and crisis intervention.
- At least 1 year of experience working with adult counseling, special education populations, or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in patient assessment, case management, and clinical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in outpatient settings; telehealth experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally and empathetically.
