Sapna is looking for a REACH Intern to join our team. This position will include program planning and implementation, outreach, material development, research, advocacy, policy, and reporting components. The REACH intern will work collaboratively with the Sapna NYC team and outside partners to ensure that the organization maintains a strong portfolio of programming, outreach, and events while also engaging in needed policy and advocacy work.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program, Research, Reporting, & Administration
- Support various areas of program development and implementation, i.e., creating program materials, researching content, attending meetings, maintaining client files, etc.
- Assist in preparing documents, reports, and statistics for program-related work.
- Assist with program tracking, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Assist with fundraising and grant/funder research as needed.
- Assist with workforce development program client work and curriculum development.
- Support clients in programs like ESOL, citizenship, computer literacy, etc.
Events
- Assist in planning and organizing fundraising and donor events.
- Assist with organizing community events ranging from the annual picnic to community workshops
- Attend partner and community events representing Sapna NYC as needed.
External Training/Meetings/Advocacy/Outreach:
- Attend pertinent meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Assist with communications, including social media content creation, interviews, content research, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Spoken fluency in a South Asian language required. Spoken fluency in Bengali/Bangla required. Spoken & written fluency in English required.
- Position can either be hybrid or fully in-person, but majority regular and consistent in-person days required.
- Able to travel throughout the boroughs as needed for meetings, events, & trainings on occasion.
- Ability to engage with diverse communities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and juggle multiple time-sensitive tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Basic office skills required, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, etc.
- Additional tech skills needed – YouTube, Canva a plus
- Strong personal responsibility and commitment to work, follow-through, and accountability. Strong sense of communication. Not afraid to reach out for help.
- Creative thinker, self-starter personality with strong interpersonal skills highly preferred
- Passion for health equity, social justice, gender justice, and Sapna’s mission preferred
COMPENSATION:
Sapna NYC’s Community Internship will start September, 2026 and end January 2027. This position requires a commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week with a pay rate of $19/hour. This is a hybrid position which will combine remote responsibilities with majority required in-person hours at the Sapna NYC office and in the community. Sapna NYC’s regular office hours are Monday - Friday, 10:30am-5:30pm. We are looking for someone with a consistent schedule and has availability to come in person at a fixed schedule and time. This position will also include some evening and weekend work from time to time or as needed.
