Role: Assistant General Manager (AGM)
Job Summary:
The AGM serves as a supervisory role assisting the GM in daily and weekly restaurant operations. The position requires strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. The AGM position will foster employee growth and ensure a quality guest experience by promoting Fairplay policy and values through leading by example.
Time commitment:
50-65hrs / week. This time commitment will spread between administrative responsibilities and service oversight/assistance. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are considered weekends for the position though flexibility is required for special events / holidays.
Wages:
$68-72k / year
Duties:
- Serve as MOD in absence of GM. You will direct on issues pertaining to service and operations for both staff and guests alike.
- Assist in curating entertainment. Project business levels across multiple different sports events for appropriate staffing, supplies, and promotion when applicable.
- Contribute ideas to generate revenue outside of sports events that are inline with the brand and the values of Fairplay.
- End of shift notes outlining relevant information from the shift. This includes pace of business, notable guest interactions, and issues that pertain to staffing, maintenance, and operations.
- Execute all tasks on the Manager checklists and responsible for executing the Daily/Weekly Manager checklist on days when GM is out of the restaurant.
- Assist with restaurant financials / administration. This includes tracking invoices and entering data in the Daily Cost & Revenue sheet, Tip Pool entries, time-clock edits, costing sheets, and scheduling.
- Help identify ongoing problems in all aspects of the operation and contribute sustainable solutions.
- Weekly management meetings and staff updates. Keeping the staff abreast of the upcoming week’s events, minor policy changes, or areas that need work.
- Guide new employees through training and monitor their progress throughout the onboarding process.
- Leading the team through service. Provide hands-on help with both employees and guests. Build rapport and address complaints / issues with sincerity and choose the path of resolution that best benefits the guest while adhering to the values of Fairplay.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, team-building, and conflict resolution skills.
- Previous hands-on experience in AGM or similar supervisory role.
- Familiarity with sanitation, safety, alcohol service, and labor regulations.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Strong general knowledge of food, beer, wine, and spirits as well as preparation techniques.
- Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work in physically demanding scenarios and standing for long periods.
- Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends.
