ABOUT THE ROLE
The Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining food safety and quality standards in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position ensures regulatory compliance and supports overall production goals by leading quality control efforts on the production floor. Key responsibilities include supervising the 1st shift QA Technician, conducting audits and inspections, ensuring proper documentation of QA, Sanitation, and Production processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build a strong safety and quality culture.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently while supporting the Quality Assurance Manager and driving continuous improvement in food safety and quality programs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and mentor the on-shift QA Technician, providing direction, support, and fostering professional development.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality processes and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency across operations.
- Lead and document the internal quality hold process, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
- Ensure accurate documentation within Quality Management Systems (QMS) for quality, sanitation, and production records.
- Oversee ingredients and finished product testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Support the QA Manager in initiating and documenting CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Action plans).
- Conduct GMP and facility audits during the shift to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Act as the point of contact for internal and external documentation requests during scheduled working hours.
- Assist the QA Manager in maintaining internal SQF standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Serve as backup for the QA Technician, stepping in during absences or operational needs.
- Train employees on One Point Lessons, SOPs, and Playbooks as necessary to support ongoing learning and compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing quality required; previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage teams and drive performance.
- Solid understanding of food safety standards and regulatory compliance, including HACCP, GMP, FDA, and SQF.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as business needs dictate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Physically capable of standing and walking for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

The plant facility is not air-conditioned and there will be exposure to loud machinery. The noise level can be moderate to high. The company requires employees to wear uniforms, hair nets, safety shoes and adhere to GMP guidelines. The employee works near moving mechanical parts; therefore, attentiveness and safety are of the utmost importance.
