JOB SUMMARY:
To lead the daily coordination of nursing services and oversee all nursing operations on the campus; to create a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies; and to foster a positive and supportive work environment for all team members.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and mentor a high-performing nursing team to provide exceptional resident care.
- Interview, hire, and train employees, providing ongoing support and professional development opportunities.
- Effectively manage nursing staff schedules and workloads to ensure optimal staffing levels.
- Monitor and maintain nursing programs and activities in compliance with current policies and regulations.
- Utilize your nursing skills and knowledge to provide guidance and support in all situations.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required reports and audits.
- Set, track, and achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Provide direct resident care when necessary.
- Thoroughly investigate and resolve resident complaints.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Oversee the department budget and manage resources effectively.
- Maintain a well-stocked inventory of nursing supplies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor a robust Quality Assurance program within the nursing department.
- Stay informed of new developments, current practices, and trends in medical science to ensure best practices are implemented.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current MN RN License required
- CPR certification required
- 5+ years of experience working in a long-term care setting strongly preferred
- 3+ years of experience in managing staff, administration, or as a Director of Nursing in a geriatric setting highly desired
- Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision, possess effective communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and appropriately.
- Proven ability to develop and implement plans for program/department operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current federal and state regulations.
- Ability to provide compassionate patient care when needed.
- Strong understanding of general nursing theories and practices.
- Knowledge of new developments in the field of geriatric care.
