Galiano Wine Bar & Restaurant is seeking experienced hospitality professionals to join our front of house team in St. James, New York.
Galiano is a wine first restaurant built around our own portfolio of Galiano wines, a thoughtful international wine selection, seasonal cocktails, and a chef driven food program. Our bartenders are an important part of the full guest experience and are expected to be equally comfortable behind the bar and providing polished tableside service.
This is not a position limited to making drinks. Bartenders at Galiano should be capable of discussing and presenting wine, opening and serving bottles tableside, guiding guests through pairings, taking food orders, and stepping into dining room service when needed. We are looking for hospitality professionals who enjoy learning about wine and food and who can communicate that knowledge naturally without making the experience feel overly formal.
Responsibilities include preparing cocktails and other beverages to established specifications, providing knowledgeable wine service, presenting and opening bottles tableside, making informed recommendations based on guest preferences and food selections, taking food and beverage orders, maintaining proper steps of service, operating Toast POS, handling payments accurately, maintaining a clean and organized bar, completing opening and closing responsibilities, supporting inventory and restocking, and collaborating closely with the culinary and front of house teams.
Candidates should have previous bartending or restaurant service experience, strong guest communication skills, confidence working in a polished dining environment, and the ability to manage multiple guests and priorities during service. Existing wine knowledge is strongly preferred, but curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn are equally important. Formal wine certification is not required.
We are looking for people who understand that great hospitality requires more than technical bartending ability. Professionalism, attention to detail, reliability, teamwork, and the ability to read a guest and adapt the experience accordingly are essential.
Galiano provides ongoing education around our wines, food pairings, cocktail program, and service standards. Bartenders will work alongside our beverage leadership and culinary team to develop a strong understanding of the complete Galiano experience.

Experience: Restaurant bartending or serving experience preferred
Wine knowledge: Preferred, with training provided
