Header: Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and medical histories to ensure safe treatment plans
- Capture and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays) using medical imaging equipment while maintaining strict infection prevention protocols
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs
- Assist with chairside procedures utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient patient flow
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and medical records
- Follow HIPAA regulations diligently to maintain patient confidentiality and uphold privacy standards in all interactions
- Support infection control practices by adhering to aseptic techniques and healthcare infection prevention guidelines
- Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings for seamless patient care delivery
- Review documentation, assist with medical coding, and ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations
Header: Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials in good standing
- Proven experience working in dental clinics or dental offices, preferably with pediatric dentistry experience (we do see children 2+ but we don't specialize in children)
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and familiarity with dental equipment and EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach towards diverse patient populations including pediatrics
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance management, medical coding, and documentation review processes
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures and the ability to interpret medical imaging results effectively
