Position Summary
APV Drywall, Inc. is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Delivery Driver to transport construction materials, equipment, and supplies to residential job sites throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. This position plays a critical role in supporting construction operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately, safely, and on schedule.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating delivery vehicles in construction environments, possess strong organizational skills, and demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety. This role requires frequent interaction with field personnel, project managers, and customers while maintaining compliance with all company policies, Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and OSHA safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to active residential and commercial construction sites.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are operating safely and efficiently.
- Verify delivery contents against work orders, packing slips, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy.
- Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules while maintaining timely and professional service.
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and DOT regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, including drywall-related products, construction supplies, and equipment.
- Obtain delivery confirmations, photographs, signatures, and supporting documentation as required.
- Record completed deliveries and update delivery status using company software and mobile technology platforms.
- Communicate delivery progress, delays, site access concerns, and material discrepancies to management promptly.
- Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and warehouse personnel to ensure materials arrive when needed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked company vehicles and equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety requirements, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately.
- Comply with company fuel card procedures, vehicle usage policies, and fleet management requirements.
- Assist with warehouse, inventory, and material handling activities when deliveries are not scheduled.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support construction and production operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of delivery driving, transportation, warehouse, or construction-related experience preferred.
- Previous experience delivering building materials, construction products, or job site supplies preferred.
- Experience working in residential or commercial construction environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to read delivery schedules, work orders, and material lists accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with office and field personnel.
- Proficiency with mobile devices, GPS navigation systems, and company software applications.
Licensing and Certifications
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Current DOT Medical Certification required.
- Must maintain all required licenses and certifications throughout employment.
- Ability to meet company motor vehicle insurance eligibility requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb, bend, kneel, reach, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely enter and navigate active construction sites.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of construction materials, job site operations, and delivery logistics.
- Experience using delivery tracking software, mobile applications, and scheduling systems.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and construction site safety requirements.
- Forklift or material-handling equipment experience is a plus.
- Experience in the drywall, painting, or building materials industry is preferred.
