Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, adhering to medical documentation standards.
- Support patient care by helping with feeding, medication administration under supervision, and ensuring comfort measures are met.
- Maintain a safe environment by following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols, especially in infectious disease or ICU settings.
- Collaborate with nurses and healthcare teams to deliver personalized care plans in settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, or hospitals.
- Document patient information precisely within EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks while respecting HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with specialized care needs such as dementia or Alzheimer’s care, memory care units, or behavioral health support for individuals with disabilities.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including long-term care facilities, hospitals (Level I Trauma Center experience), or outpatient clinics.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and catheter care when required; experience with DME (Durable Medical Equipment) is a plus.
- Skilled in patient service delivery across pediatric to geriatric populations; experience in geriatrics and home & community care is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and working with infectious diseases.
- Excellent caregiving skills with a focus on safety, compassion, and attention to detail in high-pressure environments like ICU or emergency medicine units.
