Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Party Chief to lead land surveying projects and coordinate field operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in civil engineering, land surveying, and geospatial data collection. This role involves overseeing survey crews, ensuring accurate data acquisition, and producing precise mapping and drafting deliverables using advanced surveying and CAD technologies. The Party Chief will play a critical role in project planning, execution, and quality control, supporting infrastructure development, construction, and land development projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage survey crews during field data collection activities for land surveying projects.
- Operate and troubleshoot GPS equipment, 3D scanners, Trimble systems, and other geospatial data collection tools.
- Perform precise measurements using total stations, theodolites, and other surveying instruments.
- Conduct topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking with accuracy.
- Utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS and Civil 3D to analyze spatial data and produce detailed maps.
- Prepare schematics, CAD drawings, AutoCAD files, Revit models, MicroStation drawings, and Civil 3D designs for project deliverables.
- Apply principles of trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math to ensure survey accuracy.
- Coordinate with engineers and clients to meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all field activities.
- Maintain detailed field notes and documentation for all survey work performed.
Skills
- Proficiency in boundary calculations and closures.
- Proficiency in land surveying techniques including GPS/GIS data collection and processing.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles related to construction surveys and schematics.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, Carlson, and Schematics.
- Familiarity with 3D scanners and Trimble survey equipment for advanced data collection.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, ALTA surveys, and construction plans.
- Knowledge of geospatial analysis tools like ArcGIS and Civil 3D for mapping projects.
- Solid understanding of math concepts including trigonometry, algebra, geometry relevant to survey calculations.
- Experience with data collection tools such as Carlson software or similar platforms like MicroStation or Revit is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills to manage survey crews effectively in the field.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, engineers, and team members.
