About Ascent Insurance Solutions
Ascent Insurance Solutions is a small but mighty risk management focused commercial insurance brokerage with specialties in workers' compensation, contractors, public entities, and smiddle-market business.
We believe commercial insurance is about far more than simply placing policies. We help our clients control costs, improve workplace safety, navigate complex coverage issues, and protect the businesses they've worked hard to build.
We're a collaborative, high-energy team that values technical expertise, curiosity, initiative, and exceptional client service. Because we're a boutique agency, every team member has a meaningful impact on our clients and our continued growth.
About the Role
We're looking for a Commercial Lines Account Specialist to join our growing team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the technical side of commercial insurance, including marketing accounts, comparing coverage options, working with underwriters, solving client challenges, and keeping the details organized. We genuinely love what we do, and look for that vibe in any client facing role.
While this is not a cold-calling sales position, you'll confidently assist with incoming quote requests, identify opportunities to help clients, and support our producers throughout the sales process.
This is an in-office, part-time position (approximately 20-30 flexible hours per week) with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role as both the agency and your responsibilities continue to grow.
Technology at Ascent
We embrace technology that helps us work smarter, not replace true human talent.
Our team uses modern agency technology and AI-assisted tools to streamline repetitive tasks such as preparing ACORD applications, completing supplemental applications, reviewing policy documents, comparing coverages, preparing proposals, and organizing information.
Every recommendation, submission, and client deliverable is reviewed by a human. Strong judgment, technical knowledge, attention to detail, and critical thinking remain essential to everything we do.
If you're naturally curious, enjoy learning new technology, and like finding better ways to serve clients, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Do
Commercial Account Marketing
- Assist with new business and renewal marketing, including updating rating exposures, completing carrier portal submissions, and preparing formal submissions when needed.

Client & Producer Support
- Assist producers with account placement and proposal preparation.
- Take incoming quote requests, gather underwriting information, market eligible accounts, and prepare competitive insurance proposals.
- Answer client coverage and policy questions.
- Build positive relationships with clients, carriers, and underwriters.
Account Servicing
- Maintain accurate documentation within our agency management system and internal workflows.
- Assist with renewal preparation and policy processing.
- Provide backup support for certificates of insurance, endorsements, and policy changes during periods of high workload.
- Follow agency workflows, documentation standards, and operating procedures.

- Working knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and policy servicing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

Most Important
We place a high value on technical aptitude.
Commercial insurance today relies heavily on carrier portals, agency management systems, automation, and digital workflows. The ideal candidate enjoys learning new software, navigating technology, troubleshooting problems, and continuously improving efficiency.
If you're the type of person who naturally embraces new systems, you'll probably enjoy working here. As a small, nimble agency, we're always looking for better ways to work. We use technology to eliminate repetitive tasks so our team can spend more time where they add the most value: serving clients, solving problems, and building relationships.
Bonus Points
Experience with:
- Agency management systems
- ACORD and supplemental applications
- Commercial carrier quoting platforms
- Workers' compensation
- Contractor accounts

Why You'll Love Working Here
At Ascent, you won't spend every day doing the exact same thing.

Because we're a small agency, your ideas matter, your contributions are noticed, and your growth isn't limited by layers of management.
If you're looking for a place where you can build a long-term career, not simply process paperwork, we'd love to meet you.
Compensation
- Base pay of $20-$30 per hour, depending on experience.
