American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stroke/Neuro PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital in Roanoke, VA, requiring Epic proficiency and neuro PCU clinical experience.

Work in a Stroke/Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a large acute care facility with over 700 licensed beds, designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet facility, and teaching hospital affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine

Unit specializes in the care of hospitalist medicine patients including stroke and neurology patients, and is a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM; 4x12 schedules available upon request

Typical patient ratio is 1:5 with a staffing goal of 1:4
-
IV drips managed include Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine/Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine (no titration required)

Remote telemetry monitoring is in place, with tele sitting implemented to support Patient Care Tech coverage

Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block

Must work one holiday per 13-week contract

Floating required within skillset

Epic EMR experience required

Active Virginia state or Compact RN license; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Neuro PCU clinical experience required

Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
-
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
-
Medication administration experience including cardiac drips
-
Respiratory support skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
-
Familiarity with isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown environments

Two professional references required for consideration

Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
