Executive Director – Full Time
Job Summary: Mission-driven servant leader with a strong Christian faith, a passion for
helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency, and a proven ability to lead teams, build
community partnerships, secure funding, and manage complex nonprofit operations. Work
with the board of directors to develop strategic plans, engaging community stakeholders,
and supporting staff and program participants in a hands-on environment.
Special Requirements:
Availability for limited and scheduled evening and weekend events.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall oversight of operation of Heartisans under the supervision of the Board of Directors.
- Oversees the practices of business operations including the preparation of the Heartisans annual budget.
- Supervises and evaluates all staff members. Provides opportunities for staff development.
- Provide oversight for all staff and volunteer training.
- Oversee and assist in writing job descriptions for employees, volunteers and contract workers.
- Attend continuing education programs to keep abreast of changes and new knowledge in the non-profit field.
- Ability to research, write and manage grant proposals.
- Oversee fundraising activities with staff, Board members and volunteers.
- Serves as spokesperson for Heartisans and acknowledges donations. Deals with complaints, approves all external communication. Meets with media representatives and conducts interviews.
- Responsible for implementation of all safety programs. Provide instruction of safety protocol to all volunteers, participants and staff.
- Provide oversight for all marketing.
- Works with the Program Director to ensure transitional housing, leasing guidelines, and requirements for living in the Heartisans Village.
Education Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant leadership experience may be considered.
- Professional certifications related to nonprofit management, fundraising, grant administration, workforce development, or housing services.
Experience Preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership and management experience in a nonprofit organization, business, workforce development program, social service agency, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience managing employees, volunteers, contractors, or program staff.
- Experience in budget development, financial oversight, and organizational planning.
- Experience building partnerships with community organizations, employers, donors, and stakeholders.
- Experience with public speaking, community engagement, and representing an organization to the public.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor relations, grant writing, grant management, or resource development.
- Proficient use of computer software such as Excel, MS Word and other accounting software as needed.
- Have very strong decision making and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Have strong interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to work with diverse staff and customer base effectively.
- Ability to use efficient time management and organizational skills to accomplish goals.
- Be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of self or others.
- Strong knowledge of the Longview and East Texas community, including local employers, nonprofits, churches, and community resources.
General Physical Demands and Workplace Conditions:
- Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push or pull or otherwise move objects within the immediate work station.
- Must be able to walk, sit or stand frequently, up to 50% of the time.
- Must be able to tolerate encounters with coworkers and customers under the following conditions:
o Atmospheric pollutants or allergens, including but not limited to fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation;
o Changes in indoor/outdoor temperatures encountered in travel between buildings.
- Other physical attributes required to successfully perform the essential functionsabove include finger agility, talking, and listening.
Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
