JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
Supervise the practice of direct service Adult Protective Services (APS) Social Workers and to receive and assign intakes and referrals, also to carry a caseload of clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Within the limits of the agency’s policies and procedures, a case worker is responsible and has commensurate authority to perform the duties listed below and is directly accountable to the Social Work Supervisor. Performance of these duties requires extensive and regular supervision. Duties included are:
· Supervise a team of up to six APS social workers under the direction of the APS Director
· Assist the Director in administrative tasks such as billing, audits, attending mandatory meetings, and data keeping
· Oversee compliance of subordinates to both state and agency expectations; practice progressive discipline if necessary
· Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
· Assist in training and onboarding of new social workers in policy, procedure, and record keeping systems
· Communicate and report any relevant information, concerns, etc. with Director in a timely and professional manner
· Assign and maintain case rotation to APS social work staff
· Act as a mediator or buffer to dissatisfied clientele and other relevant stakeholders, etc.
· Maintain a partial or full caseload of APS clientele investigating abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults in the community
· Maintain full knowledge of APS laws and regulations, as well as agency policy and procedure
· Guide and counsel employees in their evaluation of a client’s need, or lack thereof, for protective services.
· Exhibit calm, collected, and professional demeanor while having the ability to be empathetic and firm to both clientele and staff
· Participate in networking and community presentations where and when appropriate.
· Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of appropriate resources in the community.
· Any other duties as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office and field environment. Exposure to unsanitary conditions, vermin and insect infestation, client bodily fluids, and clients who maybe diagnose with infectious diseases. Field visits are sometimes made to homes with various types of structural damage. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The majority of work is light duty which requires standing, bending, speaking, and manual dexterity and near visual acuity, and the ability to drive a motor vehicle. Seeing, smelling, repetitive motion and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds at a time are required for this position.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasionally will expect to work pass regular work schedule.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Collaborates with other programs in planning and providing a wide range of geriatric services and related protective services. Maintains contacts with all staff and representatives of other human service agencies, governmental agencies, criminal justice agencies, and regulatory agencies on local, county and state levels. Works closely with the Director and of APS.
BACKGROUND/EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
· A Master of Social Work degree from an accredited School of Social Worker or At least 3 years of social work experience, one of which must have been in a supervisory capacity
· Licensure in Social Work preferred
· Experience in protective services or geriatric social work preferred.
· Must be computer literate. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
· Effective communication skills
· Ability to process information and solve problems while coping with time constraints
· Ability to conceptualize and transmit practice theory
· Must complete APS Basic Training within first year of hire (if not already obtained)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
