Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and experienced Dental Assistant with strong front desk skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Open Dental software, capable of supporting both clinical and administrative operations, and passionate about providing excellent patient care and service.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures (e.g., fillings, crowns, extractions).
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following infection control protocols.
- Take and process digital X-rays and intraoral photos.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Open Dental.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care instructions.
- Ensure operatories are clean, stocked, and organized for procedures.
Front Desk/Administrative Duties:
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring all paperwork and consents are completed.
- Schedule and confirm appointments using Open Dental.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries in a professional manner.
- Verify insurance, process claims, and collect co-pays or outstanding balances.
- Manage patient charts and documentation accurately and securely.
- Coordinate with lab cases and referral appointments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Dental Assistant certification or equivalent (state-specific requirements may apply).
- 1+ year of experience in a dental office, with a combination of back office and front office responsibilities.
- Proficiency with Open Dental is a plus.
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of dental insurance and billing.
- Experience with digital radiography and charting.
- Bilingual is a plus (Spanish).
