We are seeking an experienced Industrial Painter / Blaster to join our manufacturing team. The Painter/Blaster is responsible for surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and application of protective industrial coatings and paints to above-ground piping, steel structures, fabricated materials, production equipment, and related components.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial blasting and coating applications, including two-part coatings, epoxies, urethanes, and zincs. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of coating specifications, equipment operation, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Perform surface preparation and protective coating applications on above-ground piping, steel structures, fabricated materials, and related components.
Operate and maintain blasting, spray-painting, and other coating equipment.
Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation using hand and power tools.
Prepare, match, and mix primers, paints, and specialty coatings to the required consistency and viscosity.
Properly use thinners, solvents, additives, and agitators as required.
Select appropriate spray pressures, nozzles, and application settings based on coating requirements.
Monitor temperature, humidity, and cure times to ensure proper coating application.
Prepare and clean surfaces before coating.
Mask, plug, or block machined, finished, or specified surfaces that are not to be coated.
Apply primers, paints, and coatings evenly using airless, conventional, HVLP, pump, brush, and roller application methods.
Apply coatings to achieve required coverage and dry film thickness while avoiding runs, sags, thin spots, overspray, and other defects.
Visually and mechanically inspect finished surfaces for pinholes, runs, bare spots, proper coverage, and overall finish quality.
Perform touch-up and recoating as required.
Follow coating specifications and quality requirements for each project.
Properly move completed products to inspection or shipping areas.
Clean and maintain spray equipment, blasting equipment, booths, filters, protective clothing, and related equipment.
Monitor coating and painting supplies and notify appropriate personnel when materials need to be replenished.
Coordinate with the bead blast area regarding parts availability.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow 5S principles.
Follow all company, OSHA, and applicable industry safety requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Demonstrated knowledge of industrial painting, blasting, coating principles, practices, and techniques.
Experience using scaffolding, rigging, access equipment, containment systems, and appropriate safety equipment.
Ability to interpret charts, graphs, technical paint specifications, and coating application data.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and identify potential issues with painting and coating equipment.
Knowledge of industrial coating quality control and reporting requirements.
Experience with industrial coating application processes, including two-part mixing.
Experience using HVLP, airless, conventional spray, pump, brush, and roller equipment.
Knowledge of consistent millage/dry film thickness requirements.
Ability to accurately measure and mix coating materials.
Strong safety awareness and ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to complete required paperwork accurately.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
2–5 years of industrial painting experience.
Experience with surface preparation, including abrasive blasting and hand/power tool preparation.
Experience applying industrial paints and specialty coatings using pump, airless, conventional spray, brush, and roller methods.
Experience applying specialty coatings such as:
Epoxies
Urethanes
Zinc coatings
Ability to read and interpret documents written in English.
Ability to follow company quality control, quality assurance, health and safety procedures, industry standards, and project specifications.
Technical training or certification in industrial painting and blasting.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in a high-volume production environment.
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
Strong understanding of industrial coating safety practices and procedures.
This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing/shop environment and may involve exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures.
The Painter/Blaster must be able to:
Lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
Stand for extended periods, up to 11 hours per day with a lunch break, and up to 6 days per week as required.
Frequently use hands and fingers for handling equipment and materials.
Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, sit, reach, and perform repetitive motions as required.
Move and handle painting, blasting, and related equipment.
Work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
Work around dust, fumes, odors, oil, and industrial noise.
Work outdoors or be subject to outside environmental conditions when required.
Demonstrate adequate vision, including color recognition, depth perception, and field of vision necessary to perform coating inspection and related duties.
Demonstrate adequate hearing and communication abilities to safely perform job duties.

Required PPE includes:
$22.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Night shift employees receive an additional 10% pay differential for qualifying night-shift hours.
Pay will be determined based on relevant industrial painting/blasting experience, technical skills, certifications, and qualifications.
