American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Medical/Surgical Overflow unit in a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center

Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services (IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care
-
Average daily census of 51 patients
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6 (acuity dependent); may increase to 1:7–8 during surge
-
12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH), and any freestanding EDs within the region — candidates who are not agreeable to this floating requirement should not apply

Equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and Doppler

Active NC or compact RN license required

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
-
General Med/Tele skills required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes and drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the unit; local candidates are not accepted

Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible

Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental training
-
75% of holidays are required to be worked
-
Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours cannot otherwise be met

Schedules are set in 6-week cycles
