Role OverviewAs the cornerstone of our fresh departments, you are responsible for balancing perishability with profitability. You will oversee the daily operations of the produce section, ensuring that every fruit and vegetable we sell meets the highest standards of quality, freshness, and appearance. Your eye for merchandising and your commitment to exceptional customer service will directly drive store sales.Key ResponsibilitiesMerchandising & Presentation
- Lead the morning walk-through, actively culling and removing any substandard products.
- Design, build, and maintain attractive, abundant, and seasonally relevant produce displays.
- Ensure accurate and eye-catching signage, pricing, and point-of-sale displays.
Inventory & Quality Control
- Inspect all incoming deliveries for quality, ripeness, and proper temperature control.
- Monitor stock levels to maximize availability while minimizing spoilage and shrink.
- Conduct gap scans and manage inventory rotation (First-In, First-Out) on a daily basis.
Team Leadership & Training
- Schedule, train, and mentor produce associates to maintain a highly productive and knowledgeable team.
- Set daily preparation and stocking priorities to ensure the department is always ready for shoppers.
Customer Service & Store Safety
- Assist customers in selecting produce, offering cooking or prep suggestions.
- Handle special customer requests promptly and professionally.
- Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA health regulations within the department.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in produce or grocery retail.
- Proven track record in inventory management, waste reduction, and merchandising.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and motivate staff.
- Solid understanding of produce handling, seasonality, and gross margin goals.
- ServSafe or similar food safety certification is strongly preferred.
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
