We are seeking a motivated and dependable Per diem Box Truck Driver to join our dynamic delivery team. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck to deliver goods to various locations while adhering to all traffic laws and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques, pallet jacks, or forklifts as needed, following safe lifting practices.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working condition before each shift.
- Manage route driving efficiently, utilizing mobile devices or GPS systems to navigate optimal delivery paths.
- Interact professionally with customers during deliveries, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Assist with warehouse operations when required, including material handling and moving inventory within storage areas.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, courier, or van driver with a strong focus on safe driving practices.
- Prior warehouse experience and familiarity with warehouse operations are highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks and commercial trucks a must.
- Ability to manually handle heavy lifting and perform manual handling tasks safely in accordance with workplace weight handling standards.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to commercial vehicle operation and safety compliance.
- Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via mobile devices or in person.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing time efficiently on route schedules.
