Genesis Learning Centers is a private, non-profit agency that specializes in providing therapeutic schools and services for children and adolescents who are experiencing intense emotional, behavioral, developmental, and learning challenges. As a non-profit agency since 1984, we are proud to call Nashville and the communities of Middle Tennessee our home.
Each of our students receive services designed to meet their specific needs on every level of care in a small, child-centered environment. Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are carefully developed and reviewed regularly with our students and their families’ as we want every student to have a positive, supportive, and adaptive learning experience.
GLC is currently seeking a Principal for our Rutherford Academy location in Murfreesboro. As Principal, you will serve as the chief administrator and instructional leader of a special education school; establish and maintain educational programs in compliance with district objectives; direct the operations of the school site; establish and maintain a positive school climate for the learning behavior, safety, health, and welfare of students and personnel. Salary commensurate with education, experience, and certification and is competitive with area school systems.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- Must have a Master’s Degree in Special Education, Curriculum, or other related field and a minimum of 4 years of experience in Special Education and/or Curriculum.
- Experience and knowledge of program design and implementation, especially related to behavior modification.
- Must have excellent writing, communication and classroom management skills and the ability to work professionally with confidential, proprietary data.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to plan, implement and manage multiple projects simultaneously within inflexible timeframes, as well as, the ability to deal with priority changes.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization.
- Must have a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of the children we serve and believe that all students deserve a high-quality education.
- Ability to work well with children of all ages.
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check and drug screen.
