J. Kozel & Son Inc. has been a locally owned company in Western New York for the past 60 years. Our Kozel Steel Division is a structural steel and concrete reinforcing bar fabricator that supplies commercial projects in the Western New York area.
Responsibilities:
1. Safely operate a crane truck to load, transport, and unload construction materials, equipment, and supplies to designated job sites.
2. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the crane truck and its components to ensure functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
3. Secure and stabilize loads using appropriate rigging techniques and equipment to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
4. Communicate effectively with site supervisors, team members, and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and address any concerns or special requirements.
5. Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures while operating the crane truck on public roads and construction sites.
6. Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, maintenance, and delivery activities in accordance with company guidelines.
7. Perform basic maintenance tasks on the crane truck, such as refueling, checking fluid levels, and reporting any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
8. Assist with loading and unloading materials manually or using auxiliary equipment as needed to support the construction crew.
9. Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay current on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
1. Valid CDL Class B license with a clean driving record and crane operator certification.
2. Proven experience operating a crane truck or similar heavy equipment in a construction or related industry.
3. Strong understanding of crane operation techniques, rigging principles, and load security practices.
4. Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and travel to different job sites as required.
5. Forklift experience required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
1. Must be able to drive manual transmission.
2. Ability to read and interpret maps, delivery instructions, and construction site plans.
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
4. Physical stamina and agility to perform repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
