We are searching for a full-time Medical Biller for our Gateway Asthma & Allergy office located in O'Fallon!
Opportunity:
- Full-time opportunity. This position also shares in rotating coverage of a Saturday morning shift.
- No nights or holidays.
- Outpatient clinical practice.
- Benefit eligible.
Day-to-Day:
- The primary responsibility of this position is to assist with billing all immunotherapy and biologics for the practice
- Insurance claim submission and follow-up
- Denial management and appeals
- Payment posting and account reconciliation
- Prior authorizations for biologics and specialty medications
- Eligibility verification
- Working aging accounts receivable
- Communicating with insurance companies to resolve claim issues
- The Medical Biller will also be cross-trained to cover the front desk including:
- Performing patient check-in/check-out
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Collecting co-payments
- Verifying insurance
- Registering patients/update patient demographics
- Answering the telephone
- Balancing monies at day end
Who we are seeking (preferred):
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience
- Strong understanding of insurance regulations and revenue cycle management
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail
- Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent
- A Billing & Coding Certificate or completion of schooling is not required, but preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO’s, PPO’s, etc.
- PC/Windows proficiency
- The Medical Biller is highly visible in their interactions with patients and must therefore project a positive office image at all times including smiling, greeting patients with enthusiasm, and maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude in all interactions with patients and coworkers
Specialty experience we would be excited to see!:
- Previous Allergy & Immunology billing experience
- Understanding/experience with allergy skin testing
- Understanding/experience with spirometry and pulmonary function testing
- Understanding/experience with patch testing
- Knowledge of Biologic medications (e.g., Xolair, Dupixent, Tezspire, Nucala, Fasenra, Cinqair)
- Knowledge of Medicare, Missouri Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
- CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding experience specific to Allergy & Immunology
