American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with strong CVOR experience for a fast-paced cardiovascular OR position at an acute care hospital in Sacramento, CA.

Acute care hospital setting in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR)
-
4 OR suites handling 8–10 heart surgeries per day, including CABG and valve procedures — no thoracic
-
10-hour varied day shifts; start times of 6 AM or 10 AM
-
Overnight call required once per week, with call coverage on at least 3 shifts per week
-
Weekend coverage required: 3 weekend days per month (equivalent to 1.5 weekends), fulfilled through call

Holiday rotation shared with core staff

Float to other Sacramento-area facilities is possible but rare
-
Charting in Cerner EMR
-
Scrubs are provided by the facility
-
13-week contract
-
Minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience required

CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) credential via NBSTSA required
-
BLS and ACLS certifications from the AHA required; pending certifications will not be accepted

Ability to read and interpret EKG strips required

Active state license if applicable; pending licenses will not be accepted

Valid driver's license required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity Health, within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Orientation consists of 1–2 days in the OR with a preceptor

Charge nurse oversees the overall OR; CSTs serve in the nurse aide role
-
Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support are available 24/7
-
Surgeons are available during regular hours, with call coverage overnight and on weekends
