Duties
- Assist with patient mobility and transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques, ensuring safe practices at all times
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates
- Support clinical staff with medication administration following proper protocols and maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Prepare and maintain medical records and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or behavioral health conditions, including memory care and psychiatric support
- Perform phlebotomy procedures for blood draws and assist with other laboratory specimen collections as required
- Use aseptic techniques during invasive procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety in various settings including ICU, emergency medicine, or outpatient clinics
Experience
- Proven experience working in hospital environments with exposure to critical care units such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care practices across multiple specialties including geriatrics, pediatrics, or behavioral health
- Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is advantageous for efficient documentation and patient management
- Hands-on experience with patient transfer methods using Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices
- Background in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living or home & community care environments is desirable
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus
- Familiarity with infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and safe lifting practices ensures optimal patient safety standards
