Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented IT Specialist (contract) to join our team and support our expanding IT infrastructure. Duties
- Provide comprehensive technical support to end-users across various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Manage help desk systems and customer support ticketing tools such as BMC Remedy to track, prioritize, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Troubleshoot hardware components such as computers, peripherals, mobile devices, and network equipment to identify faults and implement solutions promptly.
- Support computer networking tasks including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), DNS (Domain Name System), TCP/IP protocols, VPN (Virtual Private Network), firewall configurations, and network troubleshooting.
- Assist with Active Directory management for user account provisioning, permissions, GPO (Group Policy Object) application, and account security.
- Maintain IT infrastructure components such as servers (Windows Server, Linux-based), switches (including Meraki), routers, and firewalls to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting, software diagnostics, and network troubleshooting to resolve issues swiftly while maintaining high customer service standards.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices while ensuring compliance with security policies.
- Collaborate with team members on system analysis and upgrades to improve overall network performance and security posture.
- Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users and provide excellent customer service throughout all interactions.
Experience
- School experience is a must.
- Proven experience supporting Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11), macOS, Linux distributions, and related software environments.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts such as TCP/IP protocols, DNS management, LAN/WAN architecture, VPNs, firewalls (including Meraki), TCP troubleshooting, and network administration.
- Hands-on experience with help desk systems like BMC Remedy or similar ticketing platforms for managing customer support requests effectively.
- Demonstrated ability in hardware support including computer hardware diagnostics, equipment troubleshooting, and software troubleshooting across diverse devices.
- Familiarity with Active Directory management tasks such as user account creation/deletion, permission settings, GPO configuration, and security policies.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues quickly using solid analysis skills to determine root causes and implement solutions efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence in fast-paced environments.
- Knowledge of operating systems including Windows Server environments and Linux server management is preferred.
- Experience supporting mobile devices and implementing IT infrastructure improvements is a plus.
