Semi-skilled and skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of signalized intersections. Builds foundations and sets concrete/wood signal poles; strings and wires overhead cables; hangs signal heads; pours concrete. Installs high-voltage streetlights on concrete poles, vehicle detector loops in roadways, controller boxes, overhead traffic control signs, pedestrian signal heads on concrete poles/free-standing bases, underground conduit to accept wires/cables, and incoming electrical service to power the intersection. Provides 24-hour coverage for construction-related trouble calls, responding within one hour. Works under the training/direction of a Traffic Construction Worker II/Crew Chief/Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of (1) year of experience in traffic construction or related construction work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with traffic signal installation and electrical or mechanical (must specify on application),
- Experience with concrete and/or asphalt (tar) work,
- Experience with operating Auger Derrick/aerial bucket trucks and other related heavy equipment (must specify on application),
- Valid FL Class A CDL, and
- Current International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signs and Pavement Markings Certification.
