1. POSITION PURPOSE
The Cruise Pier Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supervising daily operations at the San Juan Cruise Port piers, ensuring the efficient, safe, and timely execution of all processes related to the arrival, stay, and departure of cruise vessels, as well as passenger flow and associated services.
2. SCOPE
This position directly impacts:
- Operations at assigned piers (e.g., Pier 3–4, Pan American 1 and 2, among others)
- Operational personnel and contractors
- Coordination with government agencies and cruise lines
- Passenger experience and regulatory compliance
3. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise daily operations during cruise calls
- Coordinate berthing and unberthing processes in conjunction with port authorities
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, USCG, ISPS Code, and local regulations)
- Manage, lead, and evaluate operational and subcontracted personnel
- Coordinate with:
- Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
- Immigration
- Port Authority
- Cruise lines
- Oversee passenger flow (embarkation/disembarkation), ensuring efficiency and safety
- Verify availability and condition of operational equipment (ramps, signage, fire extinguishers, etc.)
- Handle operational incidents and activate emergency protocols
- Prepare daily operational reports, incident reports, and performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with corporate SOPs and service standards
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in operational processes
4. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years in port operations, logistics, or supervision
- Experience managing personnel
- Experience in the maritime or cruise industry (highly preferred)

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reports, metrics, and data analysis)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to generate digital reports and manage electronic documentation
8. WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work primarily outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Availability to work extended hours based on cruise schedules
