Our client is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor. The Production Supervisor leads and direct the shift operations. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the entire facility during their shift, especially when managers are not present (nights, weekends, holidays).
Location: Millville, NJ | Salary: Hourly $29 | Schedule: 7pm-7am shift, rotating weekends.
Job Duties
- Must arrive before the shift starts, conduct a formal "Shift Turnover" with the outgoing Supervisor, and walk through all areas to assess cleanliness, organization, and operations.
- Maintain safety throughout the facility; immediately correct any safety concerns.
- Enforce proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, fall protection, and ensure forklift drivers are licensed and follow safety rules.
- Keep the plant clean and organized; poor housekeeping leads to safety risks and productivity loss.
- Ensure production lines operate efficiently with minimal scrap and high-quality output.
- Check each production line at least every 3 hours for settings, product quality, packaging, and paperwork.
- Personally check part weight and production rate on every line at least twice per shift.
- Ensure Specification Sheets are current and used correctly.
- Meet with Leads and key employees to communicate priorities and special circumstances.
- Talk to every employee several times per shift; maintain records of attendance, training, and skills.
- Follow the training plan provided by the Production Manager and encourage knowledge sharing.
- Address production issues (e.g., scrap) immediately; ensure Operators and Packers are available to resolve problems.
- Document and communicate any issues to the Plant Manager/Production Manager.
- Attend production meetings, take notes, and ask questions.
- Know the production schedule and upcoming product changes; ensure staff are prepared.
- Train staff to be organized for changes and verify that scrap is tracked for all changes.
- Check pigment usage, storage, and handling on every line at least twice per shift; train staff on proper procedures.
- Follow and enforce company policies, procedures, and rules consistently.
- Report all injuries, emergencies, and significant events immediately according to company notification procedures.
- In case of OSHA or similar inspections, follow corporate policy for communication and reporting.
- Conduct a formal shift turnover at the end of every shift, reviewing all areas and communicating issues to the incoming Supervisor.
- Do not leave the facility until properly relieved by another Supervisor or qualified alternate.
