Overview
We are seeking a skilled and critical-thinking Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse to join our critical care team. In this role, you will provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients, closely monitoring complex conditions and responding swiftly to changes, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver life-saving care.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous, comprehensive assessment and monitoring of critically ill patients
- Manage complex treatments, including ventilator support, hemodynamic monitoring, and titratable medication drips
- Administer medications, including vasoactive and high-alert drugs, per provider orders
- Recognize and respond promptly to signs of clinical deterioration or emergent complications
- Assist with invasive procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and other critical interventions
- Respond to codes and participate in resuscitation efforts in accordance with established protocols
- Communicate effectively with physicians, specialists, and the care team to coordinate treatment plans
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families during critical illness
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient response
- Ensure safe transitions of care during patient transfers, admissions, and discharges
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped critical care environment
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered RN license
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- 1+ years of ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred
- CVICU and NICU experience ; Must have Level 1 experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required; CCRN certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and rapid decision-making skills
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
