Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and technically skilled Assistant Designer to support our growing portfolio of design-driven remodeling projects. This part-time position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to gain hands-on experience in both the design and construction sides of the industry. As a small, family–owned company, we value close collaboration, creative problem solving, and strong client relationships. You’ll work directly alongside the lead designers on real projects that make a visible impact. This is currently a part-time position with the potential to evolve into a full-time role.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with the Lead Designers to develop floor plans, elevations, 3D renderings, and construction documentation for a variety of projects, including kitchens, baths, whole-home renovations, and additions
· Create design documentation used for client approvals and to guide trade teams during installation
· Assist with material sourcing and product selections for finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, tile, and more
· Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, schedules, and visual presentations throughout the project lifecycle
· Conduct on-site visits to gather field measurements, assess progress, and coordinate design detail with Project Manager and trades
· Adapt and respond to evolving design challenges, timelines, and construction conditions
Qualifications:
· Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (or currently enrolled in a design program)
· 2+ years of experience in residential design and documentation preferred
· Strong proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, and rendering software (e.g., 2020, Enscape, Lumion)
· Familiarity with construction drawings, kitchen and bath layouts, and millwork detailing
· Excellent time management and organizational skills
· Tech-savvy with strong attention to accuracy and aesthetics
· Enthusiastic, resourceful, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
· Reliable transportation for job site visits in the DMV/metro area
Pay Rate:
· Negotiable, commensurate with experience
Time Commitment:
· Part-time: Flex hours to project needs; negotiable
· Must be available for occasional on-site visits
· Start date: immediately
· Opportunity to grow into a full-time position
